Based in Maryland, I make functional and sculptural pottery inspired by color, light, pattern and texture of the changing seasons. I make tableware and one of a kind sculptural vessels that balances color and texture, traditional and modern design elements. Through my vessels, I hope to fuse cultural connections and spark moments of meditation and joy. Born in Singapore, I received my BFA and Bachelor of Architecture from the National University of Singapore.

Q&A with the ArtistTell us how your work is made.I make porcelain and stoneware vessels which are wheel thrown, altered and assembled components. The forms are canvases for mono printing and mark making. I use brushes to decorate in calligraphic brushwork. I build up layers of colored slips, stains and glazes in abstract patterns. All works are high temperature fired in electric or gas kiln from cone 7-10. There are additional kiln firings for design series with applied gold luster. |
